F7 Locomotives

Introduction

Dynaglide diagramRevell F7 locomotives were produced with two different drive mechanisms.

The earliest, dubbed "Dyna Glide," used a chassis mounted motor that drove a shaft that contained a centrifugal clutch and a flywheel.  Power was transmitted to the truck via a belt drive located between the two axles of the truck which drove worm gears inside the truck.  Only 1 truck was powered so only 4 wheel drive was provided.

Later models used a more conventional 8 wheel drive with a truck mounted motor which drove the worm gears within it via a spur gear.  Power was transmitted to the other truck by means of a universal shaft.  This drive closely resembled the Varney drive of the time which is not surprising as Revell and Varney were under common ownership at this time

Deluxe locomotives generally came with human figures and added detail.
