The Revell HO Index

Revell Track (by Atlas) & Track Related Items

Basic Track

Track Section illustration
Like most mass market HO manufacturers of train sets in the 1950's and 1960's, Revell marketed track made by Atlas Tool Co., which was the standard in the industry.   The sets usually contained a circle of track  plus two straight sections.   The use of a curved terminal track enabled Revell to include both the rerailer section and the uncoupler section with the set as they didn't have to dedicate a straight section to a terminal track.  The basic 12 items include what appears to be a standard Atlas Bridge.   In keeping with Revell's attention to the human side of railroading, their uncoupler included a switchman, which made it unique.  The figure not only added detail, but also served as a marker for the location of the uncoupler.

T6015 Bridge & Trestle Set

Bridge & Trestle Set
This bridge and trestle set was introduced in 1959 and while the bridge is similar to Atlas offerings of the period, the piers do not resemble the Atlas product and this may well be a Revell developed product.   It does appear similar to later Bachmann trestles, but those could be a use of the original tooling.

T6016 Crossing Gate Accessory

Crossing Gate Accessory
Introduced in 1958, this accessory was typical of many similar items offered by other HO Manufacturers, but it was one of the earliest and provided a pattern for some later products.   There is an excellent review of almost all HO crossing gates ever manufactured in the 4th Quarter- 2017 issue of HO Collector.  The editors found the Revell offering to be the best operating of all the products tested.   They noted some quirks in the accessory though.  They noted that while the road is marked as a two way road there is only one gate.   Also the crossbuck is marked for 2 tracks when there is obviously only one track.
